About The Posthumanities Hub
- Bringing science to the humanities, and more-than-human humanities to the people since 2008!
The Posthumanities Hub is a research group presently hosted by KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm (and inaugurated in 2008 at Linköping University as the research team and gender-humanities lab of prof Cecilia Åsberg), focused on posthumanities research across the art, arts and sciences. It is a lively community of highly multi-and even postdisciplinary research, PhD-training and networking across several universities in the Nordic, European, North American and Antipodean regions. It works as a platform for postdisciplinary reinventions of the humanities in its societally relevant forms, especially targeting environmental humanities, techno-humanities, oceanic and multispecies studies, and many forms of more-than-human humanities.
As a network of networks for field philosophy, arts, art and sciences informed by advanced cultural critique and some seriously humorous feminist creativity, we host scholarly and public events, guest researchers, artists-in-residence and seminars at KTH and LIU in Sweden. From such collaborative vantage points, we bring science and nonhumans (nature, animal, technology) to the humanities, and transformational humanities to the people.
All this, for the purpose of researching better a complex and changing world that does not admit to old academic disciplinary divisions of labour, such as that research on “culture” is for the humanities and “nature” for science. We work instead to meet up with pressing societal challenges across the natureculture divide, curiously, creatively, critically, and collaboratively.
