Our charitable purposes drive our agenda- as does our commitment to the UN SDGs and in particular SDG-14 Life Below Water. Relieving global poverty through safe, sustainable use of ocean trade and resources Promoting educational excellence for those operating in the global marine sector Improving safety for those operating in the global marine sector Advancing the understanding and practice of marine engineering, science and technology Promoting environmental sustainability for the benefit of mankind Encouraging ethical professionalism by upholding standards The IMarEST is a Non-Governmental Organisation with consultative status at the International Maritime Organization (IMO) and has observer status at the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission and International Hydrographic Organization (IHO), observer status at the London Convention/London Protocol (LC/LP), observer status with the Joint Group of Experts on the Scientific Aspects of Marine Environmental Protection (GESAMP) and observer status at the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC).
