2022 UN Biodiversity Conference

The United Nations Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development (2021-2030) at COP15

The post-2020 Global Biodiversity Framework is the most ambitious global plan ever developed for biodiversity and will be the central focus of negotiations at the 15th Convention of Parties of the Convention of Biological Diversity to be held in Montreal, Canada, from 5 – 17 December 2022.

A major contribution to the achievement of the 2030 Agenda, the Framework aspires to create a world living in harmony with nature and has an increased focus on marine and coastal biodiversity. Successful implementation of the Framework will require increased investment in the generation and uptake of relevant ocean science and knowledge, and partnerships across diverse groups of actors to transform science and knowledge to scalable action and practical solutions.

In its role as coordinator of the UN Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development, the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission of UNESCO is delighted to be hosting a flagship ocean event at COP15.

AN OCEAN OF LIFE: Knowledge and Solutions for Marine and Coastal Biodiversity under the Post-2020 Global Biodiversity Framework
